Hello parents,
I am excited for the new school year and too meet
every single one of you and your children! This
website will be updated multiple times throughout
the week to keep you updated on homework assignments
and other items going on in our classroom. The classrooms
schedule of events will also be posted on the website along
with sign-up sheets!

Ways to support your child's learning:
1. Talk with your child and listen to their concerns
2. Read to your children and listen to them
3. Establish daily routines that include study time for homework in an area conductive to study
4. Provide opportunities for exploring and play
5. Eat meals together
6. Have appropriate bedtime schedules
7. Guide and monitor out-of-school time
8. Model good values and positive behavior
9. Have high expectations
10. Gain knowledge of child development and parenting skills
11. Use authoritative rather than authoritarian control
12. Take a strong interest in the school
13. Communicate with your children's teacher
14. Acknowledge your child's cultural background
Volunteering in the Classroom:
Teaching tasks:
-supervise learning centers
-listen to children
-play games with students
-tell stories
-play instructional games
-read to children
-take children to the resource center
-share a hobby
Nonteaching tasks:
-make games
-prepare a parent bulletin board
-repair equipment
-record grades
-organize cupboards
-plan a workshop for parents
-collect lunch money
-help with book publishing
-grade and correct papers or write comments
-take attendance
Contributions from home:
-serve as a telephone chairperson
-develop a classroom or school Web site
-collect recycling materials -furnish refreshments
-wash aprons
-make art aprons
-make games
-write newsletters
-coordinate volunteers
-care for another volunteer's child
